Wayang Force Cafe

From good books to good bites, this small café is ready to rock the capital!
was an early Saturday evening, and it was a rare boys’ night out. A friendly game of bowling was on the cards, so off we went to EX Plaza Indonesia, in the center of the city. Before hitting the lanes, we needed to find some grub and we decided on this interesting, smallish restaurant called Wayang Force Cafe.
Wayang Force is a reading and publishing platform or application which enables you to read and to publish digital copies of books, magazines, or any other printed media. With over 2,500 mostly local publications to their name, Wayang Force is slowly but surely getting a lot of positive buzz. Now they have teamed up with the good people of Munchies Restaurant of Gandaria City Mall fame, and on December 5, 2011, Wayang Force Café was born. The logo also states, ‘Food by Munchies’. Munchies have become one of our favorite places to eat and hang out. The food is consistently good there, so it was an easy choice for us.
Located at one of the busy intersections inside EX Plaza Indonesia, this café combines state of the art technology with delectable dishes. Plenty of iPads and android tablets are provided for you to read your favorite publication, and to keep you occupied while waiting for your meal. The menu here is also accessible from the iPad.
We started with the Popcorn Chicken (29k), the breaded Potato Skin (23k), and of course, the ever crowd pleasing Chicken Wings (35). The home made, secret dipping sauce is a perfect companion for these babies! Boys will be boys, and we definitely needed something more. Well, the sandwiches here are top of the line! We ordered the Crispy Fish Sandwich (53k); breaded dory with creamy gherkin and tartar dressing, nicely accented with slow cooked caramelized onion, and the Chicken Mayo Sandwich (48k); diced chicken meat mixed with mustard and mayonnaise sauce. Both hit just the right spot. The Beef Mushroom Sandwich (55k) also won our praise; a herb marinated patty with sautéed mushrooms and home made cheese sauce. Yummy! And of course, somebody had to order his Munchies favorite, the Farm House Sandwich (63k); seared strip loin on a bed of sautéed mushrooms and creamy mustard, topped with mozzarella cheese. Pure perfection!
The iPads also kept us busy. There was so much reading material for us to peruse, I think we actually learned a thing or two while we were there! Ha! I know I actually found an article on ‘How to become a better bowler’. This might come in handy later.
Some refreshing fruit-and-soda mocktails are perfect to wash down our food. We opted for the Strawberry Peach Splash and the Passion Fruit Strawberry Splash (both 38k, respectively). The yogurt-y concoction of mango, pineapple, guava, and orange called Tropical Sweet (33k) is also a noteworthy beverage here.
We had a nice first experience at Wayang Force Café. The combination of gadgets and good food is a cool one. Feeling rejuvenated, it was time to hit the bowling alley downstairs. Let me just say that I did become a better bowler that night. Maybe my buddies were just too full to bowl right.
