A South Korean company has announced plans to invest in Bali’s waste sector by taking over the management of Suwung landfill in Denpasar.
According to Bali administration spokesman, Ketut Teneng, the government has not yet responded to the proposal as Suwung landfill is still under the management of PT Navigat Organik Energi Indonesia (NOEI).
PT NOEI has failed to fulfill contract agreements with Badung, Tabanan and Gianyar Regencies and the city of Denpasar, forcing the provincial government to review their contract and approach other investors.
“[PT NOEI] assured us they could provide 10 megawatts of electricity and compost. They have only been able to provide 0.7 megawatts,” Teneng said.
Bali administration is currently reviewing the legality of terminating its contract with PT NOEI. “We now can say that PT NOEI has failed in its obligations,” Teneng said.
In the case that PT NOEI loses its contract at Suwung, the South Korean company has lodged an attractive tender with the provincial government.
“They’re even ready to manufacture concrete blocks and gas-powered electricity. The government is mulling over their offer,” he said.

How do we know ? how long have you been here ? what are the results to date ?
This technology is not rocket science, for most parts of the world anyway.
Case in point.
I flew in last night and checked out the brand new open arrival pavilion near the parking are, anyone
checked out the roof ? what a piece of crap workmanship. Oh yeah I know ‘ BELUM SELESAI ‘ well the
roof is selesai and it’s crap and for sure will deteriorate further quite quickly.
Even the tiles they used are crap, why not use nice glazed tiles like Plaza Duty Free ? I know why.

During the late 70′s there were repeated local attempts to develop the Kuta – Nusa Dua road, each year for a number of years it would be filled and graded between July to November, then during the Monsoon period, November – January, would be washed out.
One day some smart person decided it might be a good idea to award the job to a foreign contractor that might actually know what they were doing. What do you know ? in 1982 we had a new road built in just a matter of months, all done within one dry season.
The sooner Bali uses more specialized contractors the better.
