A Darwin man faces seven months imprisonment after being charged with possessing crystal methamphetamine.
The man, identified as G.M.P. (31), was arrested on September 17th last year with 0.64 grams of the illicit drug in a hotel near Kuta Beach.
The suspect could have received a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment for possessing the contraband. Prosecutors say the lenient sentencing request is due the defendant being charged with a single count of drug use.
The man had admitted to being a regular methamphetamine user for about eight years. He is currently in Kerobokan prison and is awaiting a sentencing hearing scheduled for February 27th.

Dimwit has probably paid 50K just to get the light sentence. The max is 10 years. 10K? That’ll be the day!

Everyone in the know knows 10k isn’t going to go far in this day and age. You seen the price of rice these days Mr Ulyseas?
Where are the drugs coming from?
How do they reach the street?
And how come dealers are not caught as often as dimwit tourists?
There has to be connivance by some persons in authority, otherwise this wouldn’t happen.
As for the Darwin Dimwit fine the bloke 10K US and send him home after he has paid the fine. This way Bali economy can earn extra cash to fight the menace of drug dealing on the isle. This will also save space in Kerobokan Jail and save the government the cost of board & lodging of the Darwin Dimwit.
