Pecatu Indah Resort The Live Earth concert scheduled at GWK was almost canceled, due to a variety of mishaps, but went ahead when the venue was changed to the Pecatu Indah Resort. This environmental event themed around water conservation was kicked off with a 6km fun walk, followed by a massive concert showcasing a line-up of some of Indonesia’s big name artists, including local celebrities Tol Band Tol, Nymphea, Frets, The Hydrant, Navicula, and Superman Is Dead. Big name musicians Nugie, Dicky Darmawan, God Bless and Slank were also on stage to help spread the word and educate people on current environmental issues being faced within Bali and across the world. Actors of TV and Screen such as Marshanda and Nadine Chandarwinata were also present to outline the importance of water preservation. To close the show, all the guest stars took to the stage to sing the event’s theme song titled ‘Krisis Air’ (Water Crisis), leaving the crowd with a hard-hitting message. Founded by Emmy-winning producer Kevin Wall in partnership with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Live Earth is a succession of non for profit events worldwide built upon the belief that ‘entertainment has the power to transcend social and cultural barriers to move the world community to action’. Let’s hope more sponsorship and greater support gives the Bali based event more leverage in the future.
