Roots:
Coming from the Big Apple, Steven Lee should make just about any party-going, music-loving New Yorker proud. His list of accomplishments are as moving and inspiring as his music. One half of the highly successful house outfit ‘Lee Cabrera’, Steven has also become accustomed to blazing his own trail as well. Although the Lee Cabrera duo experienced wild success early on with ‘Shake It’, when it took home record of the year in 2004, that taste of success set up what has been a remarkable run of gigs and residencies all over the world for Lee, as well being signed to massive labels like Strictly Rhythm, Pacha, CR2, and the infamous Ministry of Sound. Lee has done just about everything imaginable in his dream like underground music career.
Sounds:
Club, Electronica, House
Where You Might Have Heard HIM:
Lee has filled a touring schedule that would make any desiring DJ or wannabe world traveller insanely jealous. He stays incredibly busy behind the decks, as well as in the studio. As mentioned before, ‘Shake It’ was a big time international hit that millions of people have heard or danced to. His compilations and productions with Strictly Rhythm, the hits on CR2 Records, or his own success with a remake of Asia’s “Heat Of The Moment” which made the Billboard Top 40 in 2010, are all various places his music has shined. His productions and remixes have broken the charts more times than one could count on both hands, and after all that success, he now puts it all together with fellow DJ/Producer Carl Kennedy to create Wasted Youth. Wasted Youth is not only a successful and sought after night/event that they put on, but an up and coming label which brings forth even more great music and talent to the forefront of the scene.
Why See HIM:
Steven Lee’s success in this incredibly tough industry speaks volumes about his talent and gift of music. He brings a wealth of experience, which in turn often reflects a wide range of musical flavor to the stage. Not only does his rich history in the scene speak highly of his unique ability, but his fellow DJ colleagues have huge things to say about him too. “Give Steven Lee five minutes and he’ll have the place upside down…” It doesn’t hurt much either when your fan base tags you with the nickname “Baby Morillo”.
