Remember what happened to INXS when Michael Hutchence checked out? Finding a replacement was far from a piece of cake and when they found one? Mad pressure on the rookie to meet the standard set by his predecessor. By the way, does anyone know what INXS are up to these days? Hmmmm... Anyway, the local version of that drama comes in the shape of Ratu (Queen), Indonesia’s girliest duo. After losing Pingkan (their previous vocalist) they’ve now reappeared with a chick by the name of Mulan Kwok. Their first performance with the new line up took place right here in Bali at Hard Rock Cafe on 19 May. Pingkan’s gonna be a definite monkey on Mulan’s back and it will take a lot for the new blood to erase her image from the fans’ minds. The 500+ crowd down at Hard Rock were obviously keen to check out the new singer’s calibre. And the outcome? The 10 song set went smoothly more or less, mixing their own material like “Jangan Bilang Siapa-siapa” (Dont tell anyone) with international hits such as Gwen Stefanie’s “Rich Girl” They didn’t exactly set the crowd on fire though and they’ll need to do more or they’ll surely be walking the plank. gino++
