DELON OF
INDO IDOL
TO OPEN AIR SUPPLY CONCERT IN BANDUNG
It’s good to idolise; as a certain Delon, a devoted
fan of classic ballad band Air Supply, can confirm. Delon
of Indonesian Idol notoriety, managed to win his way into
the opening act for Air Supply’s concert in Badung
scheduled for 14 December 2004. “He sent me an email
to request for the opportunity to open the concert, “says
Tommy Pratama, the head of Original Production who are
organised Air Supply’s tour. “He will open
the concert in Bandung to attract the younger crowd.”
It is not the first time for Delon, the runner up of Indonesian
Idol, to open for international artists as he opened for
Blue’s concert last September. Air Supply will also
hit Balikpapan on 16 December 2004. Joy, the winner of
Indonesian Idol will probably open the concert as well,
but conformation is yet to come from Joy’s management.
WARNA DENIES SPLITTING UP;
JUST FINISH SHOOTING CANDY COMMERCIAL IN MALAYSIA
Rumors around the Indo music scene suggesting that vocal
band Warna were splitting up, turned out to be just that:
rumours. Recently the news has been denied by the group,
who apparently just finished shooting a candy commercial
in Malaysia. Nina Tamam, Sarwana, Victoria Margareta,
and Stephen of Warna said that it was an extraordinary
experience for them. “It is not true that Warna
is splitting up, in fact, we just came back from Malaysia
where we were shooting a Tolak Angin candy commercial,
at the Petronas building in Kuala Lumpur. “Said
Stephen. “It wasn’t easy, the shooting was
repeated again and again, but we’re satisfied with
the result.”
RINDU KAMI PADAMU;
A NEW MOVIE FROM GARIN NUGROGO
Garin Nugroho is probably best known as a ‘serious’
movie producer and director, but this year, he decided
to produce a movie for children. The story revolves around
three children who live in a traditional market in a slum
area of Jakarta hidden among skyscrapers and highways,
and how these poor street children muddle through a cruel
day to day life in a big metropolitan city, deprived of
the love of a family no longer there, or that simply doesn’t
care. “I try to play with the emotional side of
the story, and I think this is the saddest, most emotional
story I’ve ever produced.” Garin said during
a press conference. “I guarantee this movie to be
an absolute tear jerker.” Check out Rindu Kami Padamu,
Garin Nugroho’s new movie, playing at theatres next
month, starring newcomers Raisa Pramesi, Didi Petet, Nova
Eliza, Neno Warisman, and Jaja Miharja.
