WHAT’S NEW AT NERO?

If you’ve recently visited Nero Bali, you will have noticed that there have been quite a few changes and additions, not just to the size and furnishings of this unique Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar, but also to the menu.

For those of you who’ve not yet visited Nero, here’s a little bit of background…

The restaurant opened in March 2000, and is the creation of Italian architectural designer Giovanni D’Ambrosio, who also takes the credit for the awesome interior of Maccaroni. Nominated as one of the twenty-five most beautiful restaurants in the world, the multi-levelled Nero is ultra avant-garde, with a funky monochrome theme and a myriad of textures on every surface. The interior walls are bedecked with 480 square metres of mirrored glass that has the effect of multiplying the space, enveloping you inside and producing an illusion of transparency so that you can no longer see the boundaries. Startling water features are enhanced by local artefacts and cascading vines; the mirror-sheathed staircase is reminiscent of a maze.

Radiating Italian chic in every form, Nero Bali has recently been enlarged at the front, a seamless adjustment that creates more open-air space and incorporates a new glamorous black bar on the left-hand side as you walk in. The original creamy-white circular bar is still there and the plan is to convert it into a Tapas Bar within the next couple of months.

Indeed, Nero now boasts a new Tapas menu. Priced at between Rp 12,000 and Rp 16,000 per dish, it includes Mediterranean delights such as Prawn Sahanaki with feta cheese, Eggplant Tempura with Greek dip, and sausages, stuffed calamari, grilled octopus leg and the boat shaped pizza known as ‘Peinirli’.

Nero Bali is open every day from 10am until 1am. I suggest you check out the gastronomic sensations, chill out in the comfy new high-backed water-hyacinth chairs, enjoy the up-tempo lounge music, and make the most of the frozen drinks promotion with Margaritas, Vodkas and Martinis for a mere Rp 24,000 each. Enjoy!
